Welcome to East Herts YMCA

Story One
Resident

I had been having some trouble, arguing at home with my family, and just needed to get out. I sought advice from the local council, who were able to put me in touch with the East Herts YMCA. Following an interview, they were able to offer me a place, with the support I'd need to assert my independence.

That was last year and the staff have really followed through, first helping to settle me in and offering help when I've asked. In particular they have helped with my budgeting. I work locally as a secretary, and with their help I am channelling my earnings to cover my bills and become more financially stable.

I have a good place to stay, which I have made my own. Privacy is available, but I am surrounded by a friendly bunch of people, and we like to socialise. The residents' lounge is active in the evenings and we'll often head out together at weekends. The staff are good fun too, helping us to arrange activities.

I'm now looking to move on, and am grateful to the YMCA for helping to set me up in the right direction. The support I've received has really opened up options for me, and I look forward to where they may lead.
