Welcome to East Herts YMCA
Careers Information and Advice
East Herts YMCA provides and is responsible for support services to its residents. The level of support provided is designed to be appropriate for each resident's needs. In addition, the Association provides access to information and advice services. These services focus on educational and career development and are available to residents, as well as external clients. All services are provided in-house or through an external partner by suitably qualified practitioners.
In 2004, the Association passed the Matrix Quality Assurance Framework. This accreditation confirms that the Bishop’s Stortford YMCA is professional and outcome-driven and that it strives for continuous quality improvement.
Eligibility for the provision of this free service is limited to individuals aged 20 or above, working or residing within Hertfordshire / Essex and with qualifications amounting to less than five GCSEs at Grade C or equivalent. The following three service delivery options are available to clients: face to face, by telephone, or by email:
- A face to face advice session is a scheduled meeting requiring a prior appointment and lasting approximately 40 minutes. It focuses on issues or concerns relating to either educational or career development. Additional advice sessions can be arranged if appropriate.
- Information and advice services via telephone and email are non-scheduled services and are dependant on the appropriateness of the service required.
Advice is offered in: action planning; assisting in the completion of application forms; developing self-confidence and assertiveness; interview skills, CV writing and in accessing financial assistance for training and education.
All information provided is accurate, up-to-date and appropriate to client needs. Constant steps are taken to develop and improve the service delivery.
If the YMCA is not able to provide the necessary advice, individuals are referred to other appropriate agencies.
Detailed information of the service is available in the Information Pack which can be requested from our office reception.
