Emergency Accommodation
Crash-Pad
A 'crash-pad' service is offered to anyone over 18 who is in emergency need. It is free of charge to the service user. The service is accessed by agencies through the submission of a referral form. It is available from Monday to Friday morning and individuals can stay a maximum of two nights.
Facilities
- The room comprises a bed (with bedding) and wash hand basin and towels with access to bathroom facilities
- The door of the room can be locked once a client is inside the room, but remains unlocked from the outside on leaving the room
- There is no provision to purchase or prepare food in the building and all food and drink must be brought into the building ready to eat
- The residents' lounge is available with TV, table tennis and a snooker table
Conditions
- The client must be at the YMCA by 5.00pm in order for staff to welcome the individual and complete the necessary paperwork before the office closes at 6.00pm. There is no re-access to the building as there are no staff on duty after this time
- On the day of departure the client is expected to leave the building by 10.00am, after returning the key to the office
- All belongings must be cleared from the building at the end of their stay
- The client is not allowed to invite visitors into the building. If there is evidence of this, the person would be immediately evicted. If there is any suspicion of illegal activity the police will be called
Applicants
- It is available for up to two nights from Monday through to Friday morning for one person
- The building is not supervised at night. There is however an emergency on-call service
- As some of our residents are vulnerable, we need to discuss and check out details of any criminal convictions/drug problems that the client may have. We would not be willing to accept individuals with convictions for sexual offences, assault or arson
- Alcohol and illegal drugs must not be brought onto the premises
- The referring agency would be expected to review the client's suitability for this accommodation
