Welcome to East Herts YMCA

Donations
Making personal donations

Your donation could help to support our intensive one-to-one work with our clients, fund residents activities or assist the YMCA to ensure its accommodation is maintained to the highest possible standard.

The YMCA relies on voluntary contributions to continue and sustain its work with young people. Ideally a regular contribution by means of a Standing Order or through payroll giving would be the most effective form of giving.

A donation of:

Gift Aid

Gift Aid allows the YMCA to claim back the tax on donations of any size, adding 28% to the value of the gift at no extra cost to the giver. To qualify for Gift Aid you must be a UK taxpayer, paying an amount of income tax or capital gains tax greater than or equal to the amount YMCA will claim back on your donation (ie 28% of the donation's value).

Gift Aid Declaration

You may make a once and for all declaration that allows us to claim back the tax on all your gifts since 6th April 2000 until your tax status changes. You must let us know if you no longer pay enough tax to qualify for Gift Aid.

Payroll Giving

The most tax-efficient way for you to support our work on a regular basis is by payroll giving, if your employer offers the scheme (check with your payroll department). Charitable deductions are made from your pay before you pay tax and you therefore get tax releif on the donation at your top rate of tax. For example, a monthly donation of £10 would only cost you £7.80 (at basic rate or £6 (if you are a higher rate tax payer). We are saved the administrative burden of claiming back tax, as is necessary with Gift-Aid, for example.
