Supported Accommodation
The East Herts YMCA is a supported housing provider. Each resident has an agreed action plan for career, education and self-development as appropriate to their needs. Regular meetings with a Housing Support Worker are scheduled to review and update the plan.
Applying for Accommodation
The application procedure involves:

- An interview
- Two references
- The decision

The Interview
Two members of staff interview eligible applicants. The purpose of the interview is to:
- Confirm that the applicant meets the eligibility criteria
- Assess the extent of their housing need
- Assess the degree of support that might be needed
- Enable the applicant to find out about the accommodation, facilities and support offered by the YMCA
- Record information about the applicant so that the Board of Trustees can monitor the implementation of its equal opportunities policy
Information to be brought to the Interview
- Form of Identification (eg birth certificate, passport)
- Proof of Income (eg Job Seeker's Allowance, Income Support, recent payslip)
- Proof of National Insurance number
References
The applicant is required to give two references; these are followed up after the interview. References will be accepted from employers, teachers, previous landlord etc. References will not be accepted from friends or family.
The Decision
The applicant is informed in writing about the final decision. If the applicant is accepted they are put on to the waiting list. If the applicant is not accepted the reason(s) are given in the letter.
